Website recovered!!

Well - with NO information whatsoever I've finally managed to recover my hacked website. I've lost everything that was on the site, but that's no great loss - at least I can rebuild. I've already created a completely new website which will dedicated purely to our quiz nights. Appropriately enough it's called quiznights.net. My original site - jameswilson.org - will now be a longer term proposition, and will be reconstructed extremely carefully. I want to avoid as much as possible anything that will give hackers easy access. I have already put in direct links to the quiznights.net site, as well as to our Quiz Nights Facebook page. On the Quiznights site I've put in links to an external contacts page, and an external Mystery Picture entry form. Phew!

The Tempest Arms, Tuesday 11 July

Copied from the: "Quiz Nights with James Wilson" Facebook page:

An excellent quiz at the Tempest last night - and a VERY close-run thing too! Top 2 scores were 62 and 63. Bottom Wanderers JUST pipped Real Ale Madrid to the top spot. Howard of Bewildered has chosen a couple of next week's rounds - more on that on Friday!

Website back up and running (Monday 3 July 01:44)

My personal website - www.jameswilson.org - is finally back up and running, after being hacked for the second time in a couple of months. We're still looking for the vulnerability the left the site open to cyber-attack, and some visitors may find limited access etc. Many thanks to Ross Lee for his invaluable help and support

Hackers strike again - tonight's quiz

Once again, hackers have broken my website. I haven't the faintest idea what they get out of it - all they've done is taken the site down so that no-one can see it. It's the second time it's happened - the first time my web hosts seemed to have done everything possible to secure it from attack, but to no avail.

Anyhow, this is now the only way, other than social media, for me to pass on details of our quiz nights. Tonight we're at Barnoldswick Cricket Club, which you'll find at the bottom end of Victory Park.

The rounds are as follows:

Current Affairs
Pot Luck
Transport & Travel
Who's Who (audio clips)
Politics, Religion & Sex
Bits and Pieces (60s or 00s)

THREEWINEMEN come to Harrogate

We're getting a little excited now as the Solid Gold Sunday crew prepare to head for Harrogate at the weekend, to meet up with ThreeWineMen - alias Oz Clark, Tim Atkins and Olly Smith. I talked to Olly last Friday afternoon about the show, which runs for the entire weekend at the Harrogate International Centre. He told me about his role on Saturday Kitchen, working alongside James Martin, and gave me a number of tips about where to buy and what to buy, as well as dispelling some myths about wine. Tickets are still available for the event, if you want to come long too - follow this link for more information: http://tinyurl.com/3winemen
